A HUNDRED families of indigenous people from Sitio Kati-Kati in Brgy. San Miguel, Guimaras, received grocery packs from the Ateneo de Iloilo High School-SMCS Parents-Teachers Association (ADI-SMCS HS-PTA) last December 18, 2014.
Helped by the school’s Campus Ministry and Social Involvement (CMSI) Office, the officers of the PTA Executive Committee (Execom) and the school administrators personally handed over the goods collected from the contribution of parents and students during the Advent days in December.
A grocery pack includes: rice (from Grade 7), canned foods (from Grade 8), energy drink, coffee, and juice packs (from Grade 9), and biscuits and cookies (from Grade 10). A box of apples, donated by parent Perlie Mac, and some snack food were also distributed by the volunteer-parents to the scores of kids who were in attendance during the morning gift-giving.
THE SCHOOL gym turned into a colorful extravaganza of fun, laughter, and hellos from hundreds of alumni in 45 different batches at the grand homecoming dubbed The Big Blue Night 2014 Series held December 27, 2014.
It started 6:30 p.m. with a flash mob by the younger batches, singing of the Santa Maria and Ateneo de Iloilo hymns, and followed by a set of band performance of a group of alumni led by city councilor Jay Trenas. During the dinner, awarding of Alumni Basketball League winners plus the dance presentation of and conferring of honors to the jubilarians were held, including a tribute to their teachers who were also in attendance. The Batch 1989 also donated P50,000.00 to the school as part of their thanksgiving gesture.
Ateneo de Iloilo-SMCS Alumni Association (AAA) outgoing president Felix Gorriceta III also gave his president’s report which includes projects such as: The Vibe, Rave, The First Sunday Masses for Alumni, Alumni Basketball League, Alumni Big Blue Run; missions, fund-raising, meetings, and get-togethers of the different batches; and support to the school’s Blue Spoon project and Scholarship fund.
THE ONLY Jesuit school in Western Visayas, the Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School (AdI-SMCS), is now open for student applicants for the school year 2015-2016.
The entrance tests and individual interviews will start December 6 and 13, 2014. The last five entrance test schedules are set January 10, 17, and 31, and February 21 and 28 of next year. They are slated at the AdI-SMCS High School Department at Pison Avenue, San Rafael, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Application form is available at the office of the Registrar in the Ateneo de Iloilo Administration Office at General Blanco, Iloilo City. The admission exam fee of PhP 350.00 (non-refundable) is payable to the school cashier.
