Message from the President

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

As you may already know by now, Malacañang has suspended work in all government offices as well as classes in all public schools tomorrow, September 21, 2017.

We at Ateneo de Iloilo - Santa Maria Catholic School shall continue with our classes tomorrow as usual.  We shall also use this day as an opportunity to continue to remember and learn the atrocities of Martial Law perpetuated by the Marcos Regime so that we may know how to prevent them from happening again.  The Social Studies Programs of our GS, JHS and SHS units have prepared various fora for this purpose. I encourage everyone to join and participate in these activities.

As a Jesuit and Catholic School, let us use this day as an opportunity in exercising our sacred duty and mission to form our students to uphold justice as an integral dimension  and concrete expression of our Christian faith.

In omnibus amare et servire,

Fr. Joseph Y. Haw, S.J.

ADI-SMCS Celebrates Chinese New Year

The Year of the Fire Red Monkey is upon us as Ateneo de Iloilo - Santa Maria Catholic School celebrated this year's Chinese New Year last February 12, 2016.

An annual event participated by all students, faculty and staff, the festivity started with a Chinese Mass led by Fr. Joseph Haw, S.J. and Fr. Ruben Orbeta, SJ.

A short program immediately took place inside the Chusuey Gymnasium with the dynamic Dragon Dancers coming to life followed by two special dance numbers coming from the Kinder pupils.

Various song and dance presentations coming from selected Grade 7, 8, 9 & 10 students entertained the Atenean crowd throughout the day. The morning's event was capped off by the spectacular Chinese dance coming from Mr. Dave Moreno's version of "The Monkey King".

The afternoon session was full of energy with the bombastic performance coming from Level 1 students who attended the annual City-Wide Parade. Their wonderful and colorful fan dance presentation spearheded by the Chinese and P.E. teachers gave the City of Love a glimpse of the talents that exists in AdI-SMCS's students.

The said parade was also participated by other Chinese schools including this year's host, Sun Yat Sen.

Just like the annual City-Wide performances before, Ateneans were able to showcase their talents in delivering a dance number that is truly fitting for Iloilo City. The event ended with a colorful fireworks display (John Paul Chua)
