JourKnows writeshop set in Iloilo

IN EFFORTS to continually develop the talents of promising students, the Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School Alumni Association (AAA) is holding a three-day journalism seminar dubbed as “JourKnows 2015 2.0: Journalism for Everyone ” on October 27 to 29, 2015 at the Ateneo de Iloilo Gym. Students from Grade 4 up to Grade 10 from different schools and universities in Iloilo and nearby provinces are invited to join this event.

Renowned journalists from Manila will be sharing their thoughts with our young writers:

Roderick G. Tan is a commercial and editorial photographer at Certified Positive. He is the JourKnows 2015 Organizing Chair. He will be speaking about Photojournalism and the Photojournalist Code of Ethics.

Jason O. Villena is a Graphic Artist at the DepEd EducNews. He has been a judge for the National Schools Press Conference for Editorial Cartooning for 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015.

John Christopher G. Rafols is currently a journalism student at PUP Manila. He was a contributing writer at Manila Today. He has spoken in several press conferences and judged various Feature Writing contests. He will be speaking about News and Feature Writing (Elementary) and Journalism Code of Ethics.

Charles T. Maquiling is currently the editor-in-chief of “Ang Limelight,” the 2015 Philippines Best School Paper. He is the 2015 Most Outstanding Campus Journalist of the Division of Cavite Province. He will be speaking about Collaborative and Desktop Publishing and Lay-outing for both Elementary and High School

Kenneth V. Munez is one of the top ten outstanding campus journalists of NCR as awarded by the Teodoro Valencia Foundation. He is a two-time RSPC winner of Editorial Writing. He will be speaking about Editorial Writing for both Elementary and High School.

Earl Victor L. Rosero is a veteran journalist and communications practitioner of 26 years. In the past five years, he has been with GMA News Online as News Section Editor and Night Desk Editor. Previously, he was, among others, at The Manila Times, Radio TV Malacanang, ABC 5 News, RPN News, The Manila Times School of Journalism, and the Commission on Higher Education.  He has served as judge in the National Schools Press Conference several times over the years since 1998 for news writing, feature writing, radio broadcasting, news page, and feature page.

Registration fee to the three-day seminar is at PHP300.00 for public school participants and PHP500.00 for private school participants. This will be exclusive of meals and board and lodging for participants coming from nearby provinces.
